City of Palmerston Library Community Room

Safer Internet Day (SID) takes place on Tuesday, 5 February 2019. The campaign's slogan, "Together for a better internet", is a call to action for all organisations to join together and play their part in creating a better internet for everyone, and especially for younger users.

To assist community members to better understand the challenges faced by young people when using the internet, the City of Palmerston is hosting a free ThinkUKnow session, with Q&A time, for parents, carers and teachers to provide information on what technologies young people use, the challenges they may face, and importantly, how they can be overcome.

Registration is essential at the button provided below:

Knowing what young people SEE, SAY and DO online underpins the ThinkUKnow program. By understanding how young people use the internet and the challenges they might face, parents, carers and teachers can provide them with strategies to overcome these in a safe and ethical way and build resilience. This will also give you more confidence in speaking to your children about their use of technology.

For more information, please email or phone 8935 919.

The program is a partnership between the Australian Federal Police (AFP), Microsoft Australia, Datacom and the Commonwealth Bank, and is delivered in collaboration with New South Wales Police Force, Northern Territory Police, Queensland Police Service, South Australia Police, Tasmania Police, Western Australia Police and Victoria Police as well as Neighbourhood Watch Australia.
